Safeguarding

At Grace Church Hammersmith, we’re committed to providing a safe and caring environment for children, young people, vulnerable adults - indeed, anyone who worships with us.

We recognise that safeguarding is the responsibility of the whole church as part of our obedience to God’s commandment to love your neighbour as you love yourself. We seek to do this by ensuring that all staff and volunteers working with children and young people have been through an appropriate selection process, including DBS checks; by providing clear guidelines and appropriate training for our staff and volunteers; by taking suspected, disclosed, or alleged abuse seriously and having processes and procedures in place to ensure the right action is taken; by seeking to support victims and survivors of abuse; and by actively maintaining and regularly reviewing our safeguarding policy and procedures.

You can view our safeguarding policy here.

If anyone is in danger

If anyone is in immediate danger, call the police on 999 straight away.

Reporting safeguarding concerns

Any allegation or concern regarding the abuse of a child or vulnerable adult must be treated seriously and reported as soon as possible. A concern can arise when you observe or suspect abusive behaviour, when an allegation is made or disclosed, or where there are indicators (signs and symptoms) of suspected abuse on the victim.

If you have any concerns:

  • about the well-being of a child or vulnerable adult

  • about something at church that is not right

Please contact our church safeguarding lead, Talitha Mansaray by emailing safeguarding@gracechurchhammersmith.org, or our staff safeguarding lead, Rob Ilderton, by emailing admin@gracechurchhammersmith.org.

Any concerns raised will be treated with confidence but may need to be passed on to the appropriate external authorities.
